TLS, 1951 July 30 : Hyde Park, New York, to Martin Garner, [and Garner's TLS to Mrs. Roosevelt, 1951 July 25].

Mr. Garner wrote to Mrs. Roosevelt regarding her husband's death, why he did not lie in state, where he was buried, etc. He also asked questions about Franklin Roosevelt's work on behalf of the Jews and the creation of Israel. He asks Mrs. Roosevelt to dispel rumors that he has heard about mar ital disharmony. She replies: "It always amazes me to hear of the nonsense some people believe and repeat." She goes on to dispel some of the rumors, but says that she does not care what is said about her, that "I act and think according to my honest beliefs."
